The MHC is divided into five divisions, each of which is headed by a member of our senior leadership team.
The work of three of our divisions (the Inspectorate, Mental Health Tribunals, and Standards and Quality Assurance) is dedicated entirely to promoting and fostering high standards in the delivery of mental health services.
The Decision Support Service (DSS) division is currently focused on setting up this new service for all adults who have difficulties with their decision-making capacity. The DSS is a public body that was established within the MHC by the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015. When it is fully operational, it will be the job of the DSS to register new decision support arrangements and supervise the individuals who are providing a range of supports to people with capacity difficulties. Visit the DSS website to read more.
Finally, our Corporate Operations division provides a robust corporate spine that provides shared services to the MHC and the DSS to facilitate person-centred support and care.
