Central Mental Hospital

The Central Mental Hospital, which is part of the National Forensic Mental Health Service, is situated in Dundrum, Dublin. Building of a long overdue new hospital in Portrane is currently underway, and plans were in place for transition in early 2020. However, this was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Patients are admitted to the Central Mental Hospital under the Mental Health Act 2001 and the Criminal Law (Insanity) Act 2006.
